A holiday for your dog and other pets too
We are VERY animal friendly at Higher Trevinnick and welcome your pets by prior arrangement (then we know to include a treat in the welcome basket for them too)! Visiting pets to date have included numerous dogs as well as house cats, parrots, a pony (and no we didn’t charge extra), three hermit crabs, and we’ve fallen in love with them all!
Our own animals are very friendly but to ensure a peaceful all-round experience we do ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times when leaving your cottage, and are not left unattended in the cottage during the day. We also request that owners pick up after their dogs – a poo bin is provided (and regularly emptied)!
Dog walking on the farm
The farm is very accessible with some lovely walks and picnic spots, but before you set off for your romp, it’s worth checking the whereabouts of livestock with Farmer James so you are prepared for who you might meet en route!
Local and coastal walking with your dog
Venture down the farm lane from Higher Trevinnick and explore some of the lovely footpaths from here – the walk to Port Isaac is a particular favourite. Or park at nearby Pentire Farm and walk The Rumps – a most spectacular headland with the best picnic spot we’ve ever found – you’ll be rooted for hours! Bodmin Moor isn’t far from here – head to Minions where you’ll all love the view from the Cheesewrings.
Dog friendly beaches
Many of our local beaches are dog friendly all year round and we enjoy some simply breathtaking coastal walks within a very short drive from the farm. We provide Ordnance Survey maps in the cottages and will happily advise on circular walking routes.
Dog friendly pubs
Amble down to the local St Kew Inn from your cottage and enjoy their wonderful beer garden nestled by the stream (and their range of local ales and gins which will ease you on the walk back up to your cottage)! Ask us about our other dog friendly favourites – there are so many to choose from near here that genuinely welcome your our legged friends!
