A superb holiday location
Self catering amenities
Higher Trevinnick Farm is superbly located for those essential amenities during your self-catering holiday. There is a Co-op in Port Isaac and a choice of supermarkets in nearby Wadebridge (many will deliver to the farm if you shop on-line prior to your arrival).
Farm shops and local produce
Three superb farm shops are within just a short drive from the farm offering a wonderful range of quality local produce, gifts and amazing cake – all with popular cafes on site. We have our own pork sausages for sale too which are very popular and of course go well with the fresh eggs that you collect each morning.
Country pubs, swimming pool and a 1930’s cinema!
A number of delightful country pubs, all serving food and many dog-friendly, are just a short drive away, as is the bustling market town of Wadebridge with its wide variety of shops, sporting facilities including a 25m swimming pool, and a quaint 1930’s cinema.
Walk, beach, surf, ride, kayak, coasteer, shop – the choice is endless
We are ideally located for visiting the spectacular North Cornwall beaches and dramatic coastal paths. Learn to surf at Polzeath, try coasteering or kayaking at Port Quinn, go horse riding on Bodmin Moor, or visit Port Isaac, Trebarwith Strand, Tintagel or Boscastle – all close by. As are some great shopping facilities – Wadebridge has some great little independent shops, Truro is the centre for household brands, or try Ann’s Cottage surf warehouse on the outskirts of Newquay – some real bargains to be had there!
Culture, art, history, gardens, craft, wildlife, adventure and fun – it’s all here
There are many wonderful historic houses and gardens, museums, art galleries, wildlife and craft centres all within easy reach from the farm as well as a superb choice of fabulous adventure and fun parks designed for all the family.
Great for cycling – cycle to Rick Stein’s in Padstow!
Hire bicycles or take your own to enjoy the abundance of leisurely cycle ways combining spectacular views with sheltered woodland trails – cycling alongside the beautiful River Camel Estuary on the Camel Trail to Padstow is a must, or head the opposite direction towards Bodmin and pop in to sample Camel Valley Vineyard produce en-route! Alternatively take the Bissoe Trail to Portreath, cycle through Pentewan to Mevagissey, or cycle to the Eden Project from Bugle – all easily accessible from Higher Trevinnick. You can cycle from the farm and access the pretty country lanes where we ride our horses but be warned, it’s very hilly!
Recommendations for a memorable holiday
Farmer James is around the farm on a daily basis and is very happy to recommend things to do, places to visit or dine at, as well as alternative travel routes – favourites are to take the ferry from Rock to Padstow and from Fowey to Polruan, or the scenic train journey from Lelant to St Ives rather than driving into the busy town! We capture and share guests’ recommendations both here and in our cottage folders which over the years include some great ideas to make your holiday even more memorable.
